So-Long, Oakville!

A drawing that says "Hello" for an event which is clearly "Good-bye!"

Here's some caricatures given to me before my departure. (I hope you guys don't mind me posting them!):

From my very best Oakvillian pal, Amir (toonamir.blogspot.com)
Amir nails me every time! My soggy-lipped overbite is amplified to almost-realistic proportions in this drawing! If only I actually had a hat like that! The pants and sandals are dead-on, though. hardy harrr!

From my very best... ummm... From my very best Pete Emslie! A man with charm and cartooning skills far above my own! (cartooncave.blogspot.com)
Pete somehow made me look younger and prettier than the mirror does. Way to go, Pete! Maybe I can score some chicks now! I know my Mom will like this one! (Right Mum?)

From my very best HongKongese pal, Lettie (lettielo.blogspot.com)

Haha This one was doodled in the corner of a fabulous card she gave me with a hug. Lettie Lo, you're a genius! Let's go on an adventure someday!!

Thanks guys! You warm my heart! =)

HEY FOLKS! Want to see Peter Emslie draw a BABE? Head on over to Amir's blog where he has an exclusive video of Pete sharing his drawing process. MAN, that Peter sure makes it look easy!

And then head over to Pete's blog and check out his other great artwork. Don't forget to tell him how cooool he is! (not that he needs you to tell him)

Enjoy!

Massey Hall and a little other

I had to run an errand in town today, which happened to be on the same street as Massey Hall. I happened to have my camera with me, so I decided to take a stroll over to the beautiful old building. Faaaarig! Now I'm twice as ticked off about not having tickets for any of Neil Young's THREE shows there later this month. HOW could something like this happen to me? HOW!? WHYYY!?!??

Well, I don't claim to know anything about photography -- I just like taking pictures. Harshly honest and constructive criticism is required from photographers, please! Everyone else: Shuttap and tell me you like it! Hardy harrrr!

Enjoy! =)

More Gribbit!

I was looking through some doodles I did at work this summer, and was reminded of this unfinished drawing. I remember one day, while reworking some issues and cleaning it up a bit, all of the power down town died! Not too many alterations were lost, but the drawing wasn't picked up since then.

Gribbit!

Lots of summer and lots of work have kept me from drawing (outside of work, that is). Here's another of Gribbit and his fly buddy, Zubzub (Thanks Mel! =). Did this one this morning. I want to maybe give it different rendering and colour treatments. Stay tooned.

B A C K !

By popular demand!

..... alright, so, I'll keep drawing cartoons for now......

Even though art is self-indulgent and it doesn't really help anyone. Building houses or supporting fair trade helps people far more... but I'll keep making cartoons until something makes me want to drop it and retreat to Brazil for a while.

Until then, here's two characters I've been doodling for a bit. I need to seriously come up with designs for them, because I want to use them in an upcoming project (starting in the fall! Yea!).

They're a Time Travelling duo named Gribbit and Giblin! (Giblin's name is highly tentatvie). The images are bad photos because I don't have a scanner right now.

I tried 'im lanky.

Buuuttt I like 'im pudgy and small.

Maybe he's cool with muscles?

I didn't know what to do with his wings... so he has four wings in this drawing. Maybe he'll just not have wings anymore.

BONUS PRIZE!:
Hey kidos! Print out this sexy lass and paste her above your bed!

Ugh.

T-Shirt Design

There was a t-shirt design contest for the animation program here at Sheridan. This design of mine made the top ten, but it didn't win. Some of the faculty almost picked up after, but that didn't happen either. Too bad -- it would have been funny to see the BAA staff with drunken animals on their shirts!

I still like the design. After a few drawing adjustments I might put it on a shirt for myself. Enjoy! =)

Shipwrecked -or- The Marooned Maroon

We had to do a storyboard in class based on a provided 'script'... then in digital tools class, we had to make an animatic with Adobe Premiere.

I saw some fourth-year people doing some cool effects and animation with Adobe After Effects, so this animatic was an experiment to see if I could animate in Premiere. Yup, you can keyframe things pretty nicely in that ol' program. Anyway, enough chit-chat! That's the animatic I did with the storyboard panels.

(PS: Google Video totally washed out the grays, so this thing is mostly white. Sheesh.)

Animatic - First 12 seconds

Here's a rough animatic of the first 12 seconds of my film. There's actually more to this sequence which will make more sense of things. No critiques yet, please. Not until I get the rest finished, then you can rip it apart! (There's bad sound right now -- final voices aren't done) Enjoy!

"GASP! Those are endangered! You're hurting the environment, man!"

Mega Post

This post may not actually be very big, but it has Megaman, so it's certainly a MEGA POST!

I guess you could call these first few images 'concept work'. I have an idea in my noggin' about a silly stupid small short film I want to make. The story is pretty lame, but I want to do it anyway to prove to myself that I can actually complete a film! Maybe I should go for it. Wuddya think? Bah, I don't need your filthy answers! I can make up my own friggin' mind!

Anyway, after the few pieces of 'concept art', there's a slew of doodles I collected while doing a nice clean of my room. You get to see them before I store or throw them away. Enjoy this stuff!

(I don't know why there's a chick on this drawing... but it's a chick, so whynot?)

I scratched these down during first semester when Enzo used to make us caricature the tardy students. Even though they're terrible drawings, they still oddly look like the people, so it's fun to put 'em up:

One cartoon night my buddy Amir was trying to describe some kid for some reason... I doodled what came to my mind, which was apparently very far from what the dude actually looked like:

Pffttt.... ?

I remember doodling this guy while doing the inkings you'll find below. I hated this drawing at the time, but now I absolutely love it. Look at his ear! This drawing is awesome. I want every drawing I ever do to make me laugh like this one does:

My old roommate thought it'd be funny to say that my last girlfriend was pregnant. I thought it would be funny to act like she actually was. He didn't think that part was too funny.:
I doodled this baby in character design class around the begining of the year. I don't like it now at all, but I liked it at the time, so here she is!:

Ugh..... ???

Here's some inkings I did when I first bought my fantastic brush pen a few months ago. Although I was still getting used to handling the thing, I rather like how the lines came out on some of them. Sorta raw, sorta refined.
